School Counselor

International English School Östersund is now seeking a full-time school counselor starting April 2026.

As a school counselor, you will be part of our student health team, which consists of the principal, vice principal, two school nurses, special educator, special teacher, social worker, and study and career counselor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a school counselor, you provide psychosocial expertise to support the educational work and the overall planning of the student health's activities, working closely with other student health staff and school management.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

• from a holistic perspective, conducting conversations such as support, motivational, and crisis talks, as well as investigative and advisory conversations with individual students and their families regarding school-related issues
• at the request of the principal, investigating and assessing the social situation of individual students and providing guidance and consultation to the school's staff
• participating in the school's work regarding values and equal treatment
• working preventively at the group level, including in classes and with the material SEXIT.
• handling administrative tasks such as ongoing documentation from individual conversations and systematic attendance work.
• working preventively and promoting at both group and individual levels.

Another important part of your work is close collaboration with, for example, social services and child and adolescent psychiatry.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another higher education that the employer deems relevant for the position.

We seek a colleague who has experience and knowledge of working with individuals and groups. You have social competence, are attentive, flexible, and able to collaborate with various professional competencies and other authorities such as social services, etc. It is an advantage to have worked as a school counselor.
